The Bora Dot is a Singapore-based BTS ARMY community founded in 2024.
We started with a fairly simple idea: that being a BTS fan is even better when you have other people to share it with. What began with just the three co-founders has grown into a community of nearly 22,000 Instagram followers and more than 2,000 members on Telegram.
But numbers only tell part of the story. The Bora Dot exists to help Singapore ARMY find one another, both online and in person, and to create opportunities for people to celebrate BTS together.
From Strangers to a Community
The story of The Bora Dot began during the pandemic, when BTS’s music and online activities gave many fans something to look forward to during a difficult period.
A call on Twitter/X for Singaporean ARMY to connect eventually led to a WhatsApp group chat. People who had been strangers started meeting for Korean food, staying up for video calls and sharing their excitement over BTS releases. Those friendships have endured to this day, eventually leading to the birth of The Bora Dot.
That origin continues to shape how we run the community today. We want The Bora Dot to be somewhere people can find their people, whether they have been ARMY for ten years or discovered BTS yesterday.
For us, fandom is not only about following seven musicians. It is also about the friendships, conversations and experiences that grow around them.
A Fan Community, Not Just a Fan Club
The Bora Dot is an independent fanbase, with inclusivity shaping how we organise our events, choose our venues and approach community projects. We organise events and activities around BTS, from fan cafes and photoframe events to comeback gatherings, screenings, giveaways and larger community projects.
We also operate on a non-profit basis. Proceeds from our events and merchandise go towards future community activities and freebies. Together with ARMYs who volunteer their time and effort, this is how we will be able to sponsor and pack more than 5,000 freebies for concert attendees in December.
Our work has also extended beyond BTS-related celebrations. Over the years, Singapore ARMY communities have come together to support charitable causes and community initiatives, and The Bora Dot has participated in and organised fundraising efforts where we felt we could contribute meaningfully. One of these involved helping to raise $15,828 for the Autism Resource Center (Singapore) in Suga's name in July 2025. There will be more such initiatives to come in 2027.
Building something that lasts: The BTS Bench
Another of our most meaningful community projects has been the BTS bench at the Esplanade.

During the pandemic, another Singapore fanbase crowdfunded a bench at the Singapore Zoo, creating a physical touchpoint where ARMY could gather. When that installation eventually came to the end of its term, we wanted to continue the tradition.
We eventually facilitated the adoption of a new bench on the Esplanade’s rooftop terrace, overlooking the Singapore River. The bench now bears a lyric from 'ARIRANG'. The project was funded by contributions from a generous donor and BTS ARMYs, with The Bora Dot covering the remainder.
It is a relatively small thing, but it represents something we value deeply: creating a physical space in Singapore that belongs, in some small way, to the community that BTS has brought together.
Events That Bring BTS the City Together
A large part of our work is about turning an online fandom into real-world experiences.
Over the past two years, The Bora Dot has organised and supported events ranging from cafe takeovers and movie screenings to comeback watch parties, club nights and other fan gatherings.

We have also worked with local businesses and partners to create experiences specifically for Singapore ARMY.
One example was Beyond the Shore, a BTS-inspired event held aboard the Royal Albatross in partnership with a local travel operator. Inspired by BTS’s Swim music video and held in celebration of ARMY’s 13th anniversary, the event brought fans together for an afternoon on board the ship, complete with themed activities, goodie bags, a stamp station and a buffet lunch.
The event was covered by CNA and The Straits Times and demonstrated something we have increasingly seen through our work: there is an appetite for experiences that treat fandom as a genuine community and cultural interest, rather than simply as a marketing demographic. asianews
What's Next: the BTS World Tour 'ARIRANG' in Singapore
With BTS returning to Singapore as part of the ARIRANG World Tour, 2026 has been a particularly exciting year for Singapore ARMY.
The Bora Dot is working with other fan communities such as Boraland and other local partners on a range of activities around the concert period, including:
- Break the Seal, a game collaboration with HIDDEN SG, an interactive BTS-inspired game which brings ARMY into Singapore’s Kampong Gelam;
- fan cafes and gathering spaces across the city;
- a stamp trail connecting participating fan cafe locations;
- other fan-led activities designed to help both local and visiting ARMY experience Singapore together;
- and more!

More than fandom
As The Bora Dot has grown, our role has expanded. Our goal always has been, and continues to be, about creating a vibrant fan experience in Singapore. We want ARMYs in Singapore and the region to have as many options as possible. We regularly share information that may be useful to Singapore ARMY, particularly around major BTS activities and concerts. During the current BTS tour period, this has included sharing verified ticketing information, flagging potential scams and reminding fans to look out for one another.
We also work with other Singapore fanbases and community groups. We see the wider ARMY community as something much bigger than any single fanbase, and collaboration has always been an important part of what we do.
Turning Singapore into a Little Purple Dot
The Bora Dot aims to always be what we visualized when the three of us started it: a community built by people who wanted to find other people who understood why BTS mattered to them.
The community has grown, our projects have become more ambitious, and we have had the opportunity to work with businesses, venues, other fanbases and media along the way. But the underlying idea will always stay the same: that our fandom can create real connections.
To us, that's what it means to be a BTS ARMY - not just fandom, but friendship; not just streaming songs in our own houses, but an in-person support system that shows up at a bench, a cafe, a ship, or a stadium, anywhere and anytime ARMY needs each other most.
